Ben Volpian:

CLASS OF 1964
Key west, FL

Ben's Story

Well, I don't know how I exactly got here from there, but: after graduating from high school I attended Jr. college for a couple of years or so and played a little baseball while I was at it until injuries caught up with me. Bounced around, worked, and was inspired by someone I knew who said he was making more collecting unemployment after he got out of the Air Force than I was making while working. Started working hard and ended up owning a cash register and point-of-sale business. Operated Key West to Key Largo and specialized in hospitality applications for bars, restaurants and resorts with some general retail thrown in. Might not seem so at your first thought, but it was pretty dynamic, and I had a lot of fun, too, especially by doing business in some beautiful and interesting locations on the Keys. rate associates and take over seven counties from Key West almost up to Daytona Beach but didn't want to live out of a suitcase. Previously, was also offered command of sales for South America in an unrelated industry, but here again, suitcases and dinner for one didn't really appeal to me. On the personal side, married with one daughter, and after retiring several years ago contemplated fooling around with real estate, but said - the heck-with-it. Did a lot of bike riding for a while and produced a couple of music video DVD's for fun and to help keep me busy, Was appointed to the Truman Waterfront Advisory Board by the City of Key West which allowed me to help mold the Truman Waterfront Park into something that Key Westers and our guests can appreciate and enjoy for generations. I guess that's partially how I got here from there.
