Steve's Story
Life
Graduated from Rhodes Jr. High in 1961. Went to Lanier in 1961, played football on the JV Team. Moved from S.A. to Houston around Jan.-62, so really didn't graduate from Lanier, but would of been in 1964, if I would of stayed in San Antonio.I went to Jeff. Davis in Houston from Jan.1962 to Oct.1962. I joined the Army in October-1962, went to Fort Polk,La. for 6 months. Was in Fort Dix, NJ. when President John Kennedy was killed. I was then sent to Augsburg, Germany and was assigned to The 24th Inf. Div. Spent 3 months in West Berlin on special assignment. During this time, I was a Heavy weapons Infantry. After a year there I reinlisted and became an MP. I was then station in Munich,Germany for 1 year, then was sent to Fort Hood, Tx. Was station there ...Expand for more
for 8 months, then was sent to Vietnam, July-1966. I was with The Big Red One,1st Inf.Div.in Di An, and alot of other places all around The Saigon area. I returned to the states and was station in Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, Tx. After my discharged, joined The Houston Police Department, August-1967. I also went To The U of Houston Downtown, and graduated with a BS, in Criminal Justice,May-1979.
I retired from HPD after serving over 21 years.
Workplace
