Benny's Story
I joined the United States Air Force after graduation and served 1970-1974. I served in Korea, Thailand, Viet-Nam and at several state side bases. Upon honorably discharged, I worked for the U.S. government at NAS Kingsville and NAS Corpus Christi until 1977 when I began my 32 year career with Celanese. I retired from Celanese in 2008.
I met my beautiful wife, Carmen (Andrade) Soto in 1978 and married in 1980. We fulfilled our vows and were happily married for 30 years, 9 months and 18 days. Carmen lost her battle with cancer on March 18, 2011. We did everything together and I miss her dearly. I miss everything about her but mostly I miss US. If you are widowed, you know what I mean. We have two beautiful children, Selynda and Gera...Expand for more
ldo. We have one grandson, Jude, who just turned a year old last month. I truly feel blessed and thank God for sharing Carmen with me for most of my adult life. If I could change anything, I would have met her much earlier in life so I could have shared more years with her.
I am now fulfilling the promises I made to her and continue serving our church community. I am Catholic and belong to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Kingsville. God bless you all, my friends.
I am now in a new chapter of my life. God placed before me an incredibly loving woman. She too was a widow. We accepted God's guidance and married October 5, 2013. We live in San Antonio close to our children and five grandchildren. Life is good. God is good...all the time!
