I now work on an ambulance here in St. Louis instead of locksmithing in San Diego. How I managed to end up here in the Midwest is quite the story. I had become burnt out as a locksmith, and for those of you who knew me well, knew that I had wanted to become a firefighter. Well the path towards that goal is down the road of medicine, more specifically, Emergency Medical Technician. So I went to Miramar College, went through the course, took my National Registry and found a job at a local ambulance company. for a year, and I was only making $8/hr, compared to the locksmithing at $13/hr. I was living with my dad still, which made it easy, but I found that I wasn't heading towards my goal. So, I had a friend in St. Louis and he reccommended that I come there and work. I blew it off first, cause it was a long way away. But I knew I had to do something. So I proposed the idea to my dad, and he was for it. So in the first week of October 2004, I packed all my stuff, tied up loose ends and drove 1900 miles in 2 1/2 days.
