Benson's Story
Life
Graduated from Webster Schroeder 1975. Went to SUNY Alfred, graduated in 1977 with AAS in Engineering Science. Went to Georgia Tech, graduated in 1979 with a BS in Nuclear Engineering. Hired on with Commonwealth Edison (Chicago) as an Engineer, Went to operations dept and got a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license in 1985 at Zion Nuclear Power Plant. Was a control room supervisor until I left there in 1990 to go to PSEG and become a simulator training instructor for the Salem Nuclear Power Plant (southern New Jersey). Supervisor for 10 years. In May 2007, I returned to the training department as a licensed operator simulator instructor.
Married in 1988 to a great woman (Rachel). Went to China and adopted a beautiful daughter (Mia) in 1997. Own a beautiful house on 8 wooded acres on the Maurice River in southern New Jersey. There is a nesting pair of bald eagles across the river from me. Ocassionally I can see them flying down the river from my bedroom! Life has been good to me!
Update - Retired in April 2019 from PSEG and now enjoy working on my house, boating and water skiing with my boat tied up at the dock in my back yard and a little traveling. Life continues to be good to me!
