Christa's Story
Life:
Brian (Goodman) Clament, my highschool sweetheart, and I married in July '96. We have two boys named Caleb (13) and Branden (10). I've been a homemaker for 13 years and a full-time college student for the past 5 years. We moved to Vancouver, WA in June 2000.
I was born and raised in Minnesota. I grew up in St. Cloud till age 6 and a Minneapolis suburb (Brooklyn Park) till age 16. Also spent a few weeks every summer on my grandparents' farm near Alexandria. Moved to Phoenix, AZ when I was 16, and then to Atascadero, CA that same year. Met Brian and began dating in June '89 when I was 17. I attended Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, CA for one year. Then moved to Louisiana in 1992 on a Christian Outreach Program (1 yr. commitment) as a Word Over the World Ambassador. Lived in Baton Rouge, LA from 1992-94, then Lafayette, LA from 1994-2000.
Added info:
Now, while living in WA, my husband has hiked to the summit of Mount St. Helens on Sept. 27, 2003; and a year later, we hiked to the summit together on Sept. 25, 2004 (the day before it was evacuated). What an accomplishment! And the scenery is so beautiful.
I've been a classroom volunteer at my sons' school since 2002, and taught ART in the classrooms. From 2004-05, I was the PTO President. From 2005-07, I attended college in Washington and graduated in June 2007 with an AA degree in General Studies and a certificate ...Expand for more
in International Studies. Currently, I'm continuing my education at Portland State University to obtain a BA degree, majoring in Foreign Language and Literature (French) and a minor in Applied Linguistics. I'm also taking History classes in European Studies and a class in bilingual education. Besides French, I've studied a year of Spanish and a term of Japanese. My ultimate goal since I was in high school has been to teach French, which means getting a Master's in teaching.
Well, most of my family or relatives still live in Minnesota and some in Colorado, which unfortunately, I don't visit either states as often as I would like to. (Updated Feb. 2010)
School curiosities:
My biggest crush was Brian Goodman Clament... and I married him 7 years later. Been married now for 13 years as of July 2009.
The teacher who inspired me the most is Madame Goodrie, my 10th grade French teacher from Robbinsdale-Cooper High in Minnesota. She and I keep in touch and have been sending Christmas cards to each other ever since I moved away from Minnesota in 1988.
If I could do things over again, would I? There are some things that I wish I could change or do over (by hind-sight), but life is not perfect. We can learn from our mistakes and do things differently or better as we live life.
