Bernadette's Story
Life
This picture was taken when I was back on Oahu in November for a Special Olympic board of directors meeting for our upcoming Winter Classic that was held this past 12/1-3/06. In the photo I'm the one with the white cap and sunglasses on it. I've been involve with Special Olympic Molokai now for 17 years, two of which I'm now the Molokai Area Director and the others as a coach and volunteer. My twin Alicia is to my right of me, and in front left to right is my sister Raeann, Mom (Ann) and sister Aloma. I've also been involve with Molokai Canoe Racing Association since 1993 and have been the race director for 10 years and recently return as MCRA director last year. time to go to New Zealand for the 2006 World Sprint, where paddlers from all over the world to compete in this special event. I was selected to be an official at this event, but pulled out to be a chaperone and experience this beautiful country from the eyes of the teenager paddlers eyes more so from my twin sisters two son and three other newphews perspective. What an memorable experience it was and I wouldn't have change a thing. I must say that I've lived my life to the fullest and continue to do. With my active and busy schedule I continue to make time for Doug and our one grandson Kekai and enjoy his company to the fullest. I hope to attend our 30th class reunion next year and is looking forward in seeing many old friends and making connection with those I've lost contact with over the years.
