Karen's Story
Life
I think most people from school know me as "Gloria's daughter". Yes, my mom worked as the school "Narc" who didn't mess around.. she did her job. For the most part, I went to my classes and stayed out of trouble. I used to hang out with a variety of people. I was friendly and outgoing. I got married right after high school, like I said I would. Most people thought I was crazy, but I married my high school sweetheart, Jesse Rodriguez (Jesse went to Rosemead High School). Jesse and I met in my junior year through our friend Carlos Martinez and kept in touch until my senior year when we became an "official" couple. We have been married for 13 years. I did the housewife/mother thing after high school for 2 years until I got a Customer Service job in Alhambra. I worked there for 5 years...Expand for more
before I got a job with the Sheriff's Department. I've been with the Sheriff's Department for 5 1/2 years and have worked in various sections of the Department. I love my job! I'm still going to school at Rio Hondo because I've always believed education is important for personal growth. Let's face it, as a parent, we have to set the example. I have a 12 year old boy and a 9 year old girl that I'm very proud of. I hope to encourage them to pursue their own goals by serving as an example to them. Jesse and I own a home in Azusa, about a mile from the mountains. So, it's always either really cold or really hot! Life is good right now. My current goal is to work as a Forensics Identification Specialist. I think I'm in the right path. Either way, I 've been very blessed in all aspects.
