Bernard's Story
Life
Hi all who read this. I am living in Westfield Mass with wife Jean. Kids are grown and on their own. Have worked in finance and accounting for the past thirty years at various and sundry levels. Have been involved in coaching hockey at various levels, including high school. Also, have somewhat learned how to play golf, and have served on various club committees. Now just relaxing with renewed health. Hope to hear from any and all that have not gone to any reunions.
School
I really enjoyed my years at PHS, and would do it all over again. It was a great time to be a teen, and I don't think I would have changed anything about those years. The Lighthouse, "over the mountain," Blue Anchor, Bousquet's, cruising North Street and Park Square, everything was just great. No one teacher stands out above the others as an inspiration except for Coach Benedetti - he gave me a philosphy to live by. One of the best moments of all was standing on the balcony over the main entrance before the ST. Joe's game ...Expand for more
and getting us to cheer on our football team. We really showed our school spirit. Happiest time was getting to know all of our classmates.
College
Went to college at Umass - Amherst. My roommate for freshman year was Bill Bannick, and we had a good time. I majored in Business, joined Phi Mu Delta fraternity, and actually graduated in January of 1971. Even made Dean's List a few times. Tried to run freshman cross-country there but didn't have enough time to devote to it, nor was I eally good enough to compete at that level.
Workplace
SInce the mid - 70's I have worked as an accountant at various levels from middle management to elected financial positions at some companies. It has been quite an interesting experience, as I was invloved in a new facility start-ups in Northern Kentucky and South Carolina. I got to travel all over most of the country on business, which was fantastic. Other than that, looking forward to the day I can get out of the rat race of this and into something more laid back.
