Bernhardt's Story
Hello guy's and gals, even though I dropped out of high school I received a GED in the first year I was in the Army, During the next 7 years in the Army, my wife ( Karen Wright Lakeview HS Class of 1968 ) and myself attend Cameron Unversity and received our BA degree's. I also graduated from the following Military Career producing schools which include, Artillery Basic Course, Fire Direction Course, Art and Craft Course and Recruiter , Retention, Counselors Course . My Leadership Schools include Basic Non-commissioned Officers Course, Basic Leadership Course , Advance leadership Course, First Sergeant Academy Course , and the Sergeant Major Academy. We had a career in the Army that lasted for 25 years. During that time I went to Vietnam and was wounded twice and recieved the Bronze Start for Valor twice. We had three children David, Jennifer and Jeannette who loved the Army life because we were stationed from Germany to 5 states here in the United Staes from the West Coast to the East Coast . I got out the Army in 1992, was Command Sergeant Major, which is the highest rank in the enlist ranks. Upon my retirement, I received the Legion of Merit Award which is normally award given to the rank of General.. My children all went to college ( Ohio state son, Michigan State for my twin daughters ) and are very succesful . I have four Grand Children David, Sierra, Dennis, and Charolette . I currently live in Cochranton Pa, and have a nice retirement income which give's us the mean's to live as we desire thus I have a wonderful life here in Cochranton, Pa. The only regret I have now, is the fact that I didn't get to walk across the stage with my class of 1969.
