Bert's Story
Life
I am currently retired, working part time. I live in Boca Raton, FL. with my wife Ruby. We have been married 46 years, our daughter Tammy lives 20 miles away and our Granddaughter Ashley is attending Central Florida University in Orlando.
I joined the Marine Corps after high school and got married while in the service. I loved being in the Marines but Ruby told me if I re-enlisted she would divorce me. After leaving the service I drove a truck for several years until one day I applied for a job with IBM in Lexington, KY. I was hired 3 months later and that started my 30 years with IBM. I worked in Lexington for 16 years and then transferred down here to Boca. In '94 IBM was moving everything out of Boca to North Carolina and Texas. My family didn't want to move, so I retired. I was to have worked for such a great company and the career that I had.
I had always wanted to attend one of our High School reunions but never new when they were. This year I was lucky enough to receive a letter with the information about our 50th reunion anniversary. I can not express how glad I was to get the opportunity to attend and see so many friends that I shared some remarkable years with. I only regret seeing the list of our classmates that have passed away. Some where very good friends and I miss them. But I had a great time and I hope to attend another reunion in the future. Until then I hope everyone stays safe and I look forward to seeing you all.
I probably acted like a jerk back then, I hope that I didn't do anything to hurt anyones feelings. I would love to hear from anyone that reads this.
