Bertha's Story
Bertha is from Eau Gallie, Florida. Her schools include Eau Gallie High School. I graduated from Satellite High School. Got married when I went into my senior to get away from home. I loved my husband, but I hadn't planned on marrying at this time, but It ended up being a good marriage. My mother was mentally ill (paranoid schizefrenia with manic moods). My father and her were alcoholics and quite abusive to their children. It is an inherited mental disorder that is sometimes passed on. I had a pretty rough life, as well as my brothers and sisters. My younger sister is afflicted with the disease. I graduated from Brevard Community College with an Associate degree in Business. I worked until I was 26 and went to college in San Diego, CA for health sciences. I worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for 33 years. I retired July, 2011 due to breast cancer, 2nd occurrence, malignant each time. I am in remission...Expand for more
once again. I am recovering from chemo and radiation therapy and feel very blessed. My marriage lasted 30 years and I had 3 lovely children. I was very blessed. I am remarried again. I have 3 children, all graduated from high school. I have no complaints, I have been blessed. I have 3 grandchildren, all girls.
I lived in Tehran, Iran from 1976 until 1979. I have lived in Panama City, FL, Pascagoula, MS, Albuquerque, NM, New Orleans, LA, Slidell, LA and Chalmette, LA, which is where I live at the present time. If I had my life to do over again I would have more education, take better care of my teeth and my body. I would have been nicer to everyone that I ever knew. I would have been more assertive in all matters of life, standing up for what I believe in and not being afraid to make a decision. God bless everyone.
