Beth's Story
November 2014
2014 has been a year of adventures. In late spring, we bought a single-story home in Columbia. Shortly after the move, we went out to Colorado to see Missie and Jeff in Cripple Creek. Our trip there last year was cut short when I developed MRSA in my left knee and we had to rush home so I could have surgery. Not a fun year. But I am in great health now, and we keep active.
We continue to travel around the world; this past September we traveled to England with docents from the National Cathedral to visit cathedrals and abbeys. We finished the trip by taking four extra nights to travel to Paris via the EuroStar train. We got up with our niece who has been living there for almost two years. She was a phenomenal tour guide, translator, and gourmet expert.

I've been living in Columbia, MD, for 30 years and still consider it temporary. Three of our five kids live in the area; son Andy is in LA working in tv editing; Missie is in Cripple Creek, CO. They give us an excuse to trave...Expand for more

My husband, Dick, and I have been married for 19 years. Dick, who had been a gov't attorney, in early April 2007. The 1st of May, we headed west for a 35-day vacation. On May 11, we were in Cripple Creek, CO, to celebrate my daughter Missie's 40th birthday. From there we went on to visit several places in the 4 Corners area.
In 2008, we finally became grandparents. Skylar Riegel was born on March 14, and Jack Bowie Wardlaw was born Oct. 22. My current profile picture is of me and Jack in early April.
In the fall of 2008,we joined a group of friends and went to Italy for three weeks. We stayed in Tuscany for two weeks, and in Rome for the last week. It is just as glorious as all the books say.
I've been doing free-lance editing for many years, and I recently started substituting at the county library.
Sister Debi ('66) is living in southeastern Ohio. My father, Hugh Ashby, died July 11, 2007, at home in Belpre, OH. Mother died March 6, 2008.
Debi is a CPA and this is her busy season of the year.
