Beth's Story
Life
They say that life begins at 40 and boy does it ever!!! I may be 45, but in my mind I'm only 21 and having a blast!!! I'd love to reconnect with some old friends from high school--class of 77 and 78. I think it would be a blast to have a reunion of the gang--any interested parties? You know how I love to throw a party!!! I'm living in this cool old Victorian House in Pekin, Illinois (where everyone is always peeking!!!). I recently became a Master Gardener for the University of Illinois--very appropriate for a flower child like me!!! I don't have a lot of money, but I'm rich in flowers!!! I'm rich in all the things that matter--I have a great husband (21 years and counting), 3 great sons (20, 15 and
8--plus the extras). I have a menagerie of pets plus I'm considered mother earth to all the little animals in the neighborhood--I consider myself to be a squirrel goddess--they love to eat peanuts out of my hand--such a thrill!!! For those of you who remember me as La Famosa Isabel--I continue to experience magnificent adventures--the most recent being a
fantastic trip to Alaska--Nature Girl caught a 155 lb Halibut--it was 2" and 31 lbs. bigger than me--it almost pulled me over!!! My dream trip now is hiking Macchu Pichu (before I turn 50!!!) I graduated from UW-Stout in 1988 with BS in Early
Childhood Education--figured it was an appropriate career path for the biggest kid of all!!! I'm currently not working for pay, but still busy trying to change the world by being a mentor to t...Expand for more
he next generation through my Junior Master Gardeners Club and other educational programs I volunteer for.
Plus I'm trying to save our planet one garden at a time--my whole yard is a flower garden, plus I'm helping the kids to develop a Children's Butterfly Garden shaped like a Butterfly--perhaps if people fall in love with the earth, we can save our beautiful world!!! Other hobbies include cooking (especially
international cuisine and vegetarian), traveling, reading (very interested in metaphysical topics), arts & crafts (especially scrapbooking, stained glass and watercolors), music (Sting is my favorite), gardening is my passion, writing (still working on my novel), outdoor activities (hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing), yoga (it's the fountain of youth),
ecology, languages and cultural exploration, Victoriana and just about anything else you can think of--I guess I have an
insatiable curiosity and imagination!!! I recently found out I'm a Bohemian (not a big surprise to anyone who knows me); I just finished The Bohemian Manifesto--anyone wanting to know more about me just needs to read the manual!!! Anyway, life is beautiful--not always easy--but never boring!!! If anyone would like to compare life stories, I would love to hear from you. If any of the old gang (I still consider myself one of the guys) would like to plan a reunion, I'd be thrilled to talk to you again!!! I wish you all a life filled with flowers, exciting adventures and lots of love!!! Savor life!!!
