Betsy's Story
Life
After graduating in '79, I went to CU Boulder where I studied Poli Sci and Econ and graduated 1983. I went on to spend two and a half years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay. I worked as an agricultural extension agent teaching nutrition and vegetable gardening. I lived out in the countryside with no paved roads, running water, electricity or phone. It was a great long camping trip. While in the Peace Corps, I went on vacation to Chile where I met up with a group of Israeli backpackers. To make a long story short, I fell in love with one of them. So, I finished my volunteer service and headed east. In Israel I converted to Judaism and married. Laura Kaiser (WR '79) came to visit on her way home from Japan. Then back to the US for graduate school at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Mass. ille, Florida. There I got back into volunteer work and had two more kids, a boy and a girl. Then off to Israel, where I live in a beautiful settlement and had two more kids, boy and girl. Total five kids. I started my own quilting business a year ago and am having fun being creative. The husband is in high-tech which keeps him busy and traveling. I love having my quilt studio out of the house so that I can manage the kid's homework and activities. I rarely get back to the US, but I must admit, I really miss Colorado. Both brothers are still in CO, although the parents have moved to Orlando. Brother Ray (WR '77) lives in Boulder and younger brother Mike (attended WR 1978 & 79, but senior year in Georgia) is in Colorado Springs. I'd love to hear from anyone who went to school with me. So far I have only made contact with Kathy Riggs. Memories of WR are the football games, basketball games, Mr. Hammil and really fun times with lots of friends.
