Was offered a full UCLA scholarship in Spanish (which I majored in thru high school & college), but teaching was not my thing! I wanted to be in the US State Dept.but an opportunity turned up to work in the international division of a major transportation company in L.A., I jumped at the chance after college. That job led to my becoming the first woman to head up a major international forwarder both in the US and overseas. I worked on important rules changes with the Interstate Commerce Commission and international air & sea shipping organizations. No job could have fulfilled my dreams anymore than this one did! Loved the travel (much easier than it is now!) I held that position for 20 yrs till the company was bought out by Trans America Corp. & later sold to an Australian company that didn't want to keep our employees.
