Betty's Story

Married to my best friend Paul Roan now for 49 years as of last October. He is retired from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and just this year as a State Representative in the state of Oklahoma. We currently live in Tishomingo, OK. Have been here now for 37 years.
I am retired from the Emergency Medical Services (Medic) and now do the county wide Emergency Management on a part-time basis. During my life I have been a bookeeper, Proof Operator (bank), receptionist, secretary, Legal Assistant , Insurance Agent and then a Paramedic/Asst. EMS Director. I retired from the EMS in 2008 and picked up the Emergency Mgt. position, which is what I do currently. It is a part-time position and allows me to basically continue to be retired and work too. I love what I do which is helping my county.

andchildren. We have been blessed with a loving and healthy family. All 3 children are within a couple hours of us. Oldest granddaughter is with the Oklahoma National Guard and is being deployed within a few days of this writing to Afghanistan. Next oldest - grandson - is a Sr. at Ardmore HS and he too has enlisted in a ROTC program with East Central University. Their Mom and Dad are military veterans so it runs in the family. Other two gkids live in the Dallas area. ONe is 14 the other 7.
Paul and I have been blessed with good health. I have had some MINOR heart issues. Have a couple of stents but doing very well. Now that he is no longer in the Legislature travel looms ahead of us. We have an upcoming cruise to Alaska in August of 2013. Will be our second and we are excited.
I love my life. Have been blessed with great family and friends.
