Betty's Story
I met my husband, Dean Bales, in 1966 and we got married in June of 1967. After 45 years we are still together and have a great marriage. I worked at the McDuffie County Health Department for 35 years and retired as Office Manager in 2006. I was voted Administrative Professional for McDuffie County for 2004. The Lord blessed me with this job because I was able to meet a lot of people and I enjoyed serving the public and being able to help people. My husband is still working after 45 years because his employer doesn't think they can survive without him. Hopefully he will retire in the next year or so. In 1984 we were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Dena. orgia in 2008 and is working as a Clinical Social Worker. She is a christian and has loved and served the Lord since she was very young. She has met a wonderful christian man and is now engaged.
I hate to say this, but most of my classmates probably remember me as a very shy and insecure girl. I was very skinny and had an inferiority complex and I didn't think myself to be very pretty because of my weight. I had a lot to overcome. I learned that true beauty comes from within and that happiness comes from helping others. No, my memories of highschool are not as happy as I wish they could have been. I can truly say though that the Lord has really blessed me and has always had his hand on my life. I am so thankful for everything. I remember a lot of good people at Butler and I wish all of you the very best in life.
