Betty's Story

Contrary to the previous posting, I am not from Berlin, Germany. I was actually born in Kenosha, Wisconsin and moved to Pomona, California in the 4th grade attending San Antonio Grammar School. I went all through school in Pomona and graduated in 1952 from Pomona High School. I had an unfortunate 1st marriage that did not last and ultimately met my life mate, Don Blankman, and we have been married for 52 years. Don has one son from a previous marriage and we have one son together. We had a total of five grand children, three girls and two boys . Unfortunately we lost our oldest grandaughter in an automobile accident when she was 19 so we now have two grandaughters and two grandsons. The two girls ( the oldest) are in college in Berlin, Germany and the oldest boy is at Florida Institute of Technology. The youngest is 10 years old and lives with his parents in Stuart, Florida. I have been retired since 2001 having enjoyed an interesting career as a Registered Office Surveyor (meaning I never actually worked out in the field) but interfaced with clients and conducted all office calculations for the successful completion of high density subdivisions. My husband was also in development with Rossmoor Leisure World. We left California in1973 and spent two ye...Expand for more
ars in Hawaii. I worked for a Japanese consulting firm and was the only caucasion there. That was interesting. We then moved on to Connecticut and I continued in private consulting while Don crossed over into banking. Don was recruited by a Florida bank in 1984 so we once again made what turned out to be our final career move before retirement. Since retiring we live in a retirement community called The Villages in Central Florida. We are about 54 miles northeast of Orlando and our community has a population of 115,000 and still growing. We moved here in 2002 to get away from the congestion of Palm Beach County and here we are again. The only difference is we have no commuter traffic in our community since almost no one is employed. Today we live in a retirement community named The Villages. We have been here almost 13 years and the population of our community has grown to 114,500 persons so you can see this is indeed a city. Golf,Pickleball, Bowling, Baseball, etc are large activities. You will never see me playing golf on TV which explains my game. That is esentially a capsul of my life to date but who knows what is next. After all, I'm only 81 so I have a lot of living to do. Let me hear from my old friends. I will answer.
