Betty's Story
Life
I retired shortly after the turn of the century after 24 years as a Realtor. I am enjoying more spare time now to spend with my two grandson's, ages 16 and 18 years.
My husband and I were volunteers for our local Police Department for the past 10 years. We just recently retired from that program as the department was discontinuing it at this time. We really loved our work there!
As for other interests, I am an avid football fan and especially love my Green Bay Packers! Don't ask me why I am a Packer fan when I have never ever been to Wisconsin. I guess it is because it was such great fun watching Brett Favre play. I miss that but still think of him as the greatest ever! He maked the game fun to watch! Sure was a sad day when he announced his retirement. I will still be a Packers fan, but it isn't the same without Brett!
I really enjoyed the 60th reunion. It is so hard to believe it has been 60 years now since those great days we shared at Chaffey. In some ways it seems like only yesterday, the memories are so fresh. It was great seeing everyone again and renewing old friendships. I wish more people could have been there.
As to pets, in an online search for a smaller dog with the characteristics of a German Shepherd I have found what looks to be the perfect dog for me. It is a Mudi. It is a Hungarian herding dog and a very rare breed. the Mudi!

om a breeder in Hungary. She was traveling to visit her mother in the US and brought him as far as Detroit and then shipped him from there to Ontario. From the time we picked him up at Ontario Airport, I knew I had found the perfect dog for me.

As for traveling, our favorite place of all to go is Hawaii, especially Kauai. However, travelling is a thing of the past for me since my diagnosis with lymphedema. I had spinal surgery in 2012 to remove a tumor from inside my spine. This didn't go as I had expected or hoped for, as it caused damaged nerves which damaged the lymphatic system, and in 2013 I was diagnosed with lymphedema. It is a basically unknown condition which affects millions of people but even doctors know very little about it. It basically is a lifelong condition with no cure. Travelling with this condition is not recommended and if you do it anyway, there is a whole long list of things you must do. I am learning more every day about the condition through online groups of other people who have this. We share what works for us as treatment and what doesn't. Also I have done a lot of research about it. I currently have visiting nurses coming to treat my legs 3 times a week, and I am sharing with my nurse what I learn as she is also trying to learn more about it. At the present time, I can walk very little and spend most of my time in a wheelchair or in my office chair in front of my computer.
