Betty's Story
My husband, Charlie, and I are happy living in Giles County, VA in my family's 176 year old farmhouse - built by my great-great grandfather. Needless-to-say, there's always lots of work to do on an old house like this. We're active in our little Episcopal church, the Giles Breakfast Branch Lions Club and Giles Arts Council. I've been a vocalist with The OLD PROS Big Band since the fall of 1982 and with Charlie Davis' jazz combo for many years and in fall 2012 started my own 8 piece jazz group called Ratatouille. I sit on the Board of Directors of the Giles Arts Council and am Chair for Art on the Lawn, our annual, outdoor, juried fine art show. Charlie and I co-chaired the Pearisburg Lions Club's annual Christmas Shopping Tour for needy children from 2 of our county's elementary schools or several years. In July 2010 we became charter members of Giles Breakfast Lions Club.

have a daughter, Nicholle, who lives in Hondo, Texas and a son, Owen, who lives in Southern Pines, NC. Nicholle's husband, Andrew, is VP of Medina Agricultural Products, a family-owned, organic fertilizer company. Nicholle is a Youth Minister at the local Lutheran Church. She has served as a missionary teaching ESL in the Dominican Republic and in the Anglican Diocese of Uganda where she and Andrew worked for the Archbishop. They have a 6 year old, Anderson, a 3 year old son, Spencer and a 3 year old daughter, Collette. Owen is an Environmental Engineer in Asheville, NC and will be married in the spring of 2013 to Linday Fowler a DO who will be practicing in Asheville. We also have a wonderfully mischievous Yellow Lab named Meaghan.
Spare time includes gardening, golf, birding, gourmet cooking, reading, quilting and other needlework. Life here is full and happy. We've been truly blessed.
