Bev's Story
Catch 'em up on what you've done and who you are.
I can't believe I'm doing this. None of my best friends are listed in this so and Im disappointed that I couldn't reconnect with them. Its my own fault that I have lost touch.
My husband and I live in Cottonwood AZ with our youngest still at home. I've worked for Bashas since 1977 and currently work in Sedona. We moved up here almost 4 years ago. Love my life and the calm lifestyle, weather, and opportunities up here. This year I started raising chickens, growing a small orchard and container garden (until I can get the soil more plant friendly.) My husband, John, has been my soul-mate for 30 years. He went to Chandler High and after a long career at Bashas has gone into another field which he loves...mining cement. The scenery from Mingus Mountain is incredible (just down the hill from Jerome) and being outside is the best of all worlds.
My oldest child, Emily, is married, no children, and works with her Dad and husband at the cement plant. She is the friendly face you see at the guard shack and is involved with the safety crew. She was drawn to move up here to be near us, and has taken a love for horses. Her enthusiasm ignited her aunt and uncle to board her horses and get one of their own. She has a contagious laugh and is super outgoing. She's brave enough to do karaoke once in a while and sings beautifully.
My middle child, David, lives in Chandler with John's mom and works at Life Lock, which he loves. He should be graduating from ASU within the year with a degree in English. He ...Expand for more
has a steady gal and is very involved not just with his church, but with the Lord's work in whatever it may be. He loves teaching Sunday School to 5-6th graders who have learned to enjoy his humor and commitment to the Word.
Our youngest lives with us. Daniel graduated from Mingus High with a scholarship for auto mechanics. He was part of the Hot Rod club with projects that included restoring the first firetruck and school bus in the Verde Valley. Old Vintage autos are huge up here. Unlike our 2 oldest we never gave him music lessons. Since high school he has taken on the guitar and the bass. He and several friends have begun playing for fun in Jerome once month. Its hard metal so its hard for me to tell if its "good" or not. But this seems to make him shine. He works for the school until he can get on with his Dad at the plant. He is learning patience and a strong work ethic.
In high school I think I was just a face in the crowd. I had intimate friends that I could share secrets and stories about my day. I never felt I fit in with the general population. I'm sure many of us felt that way.
I've been to 2 class reunions. It's always fun to see people in their true selves, having gone beyond the steriotyping that labelled many in the school settings. I suppose this is a better venue for getting to know people better than getting together once every 5-10 years for an evening. Who we have become is a far cry from who we were in 1974. Aren't you glad!!!
