Beverly Bowers:  

Life Hello from Oklahoma-home of the Sooners! I am married to Joe Bowers, a native Okie. We have 5 children between us ... and we have 9 grandchildren- with 7 boys and only two little girls! All of our kids live in OK except for my son who lives in Gainesville. I have lived in OK since 1978 and occasionally miss Fla, especially in the winter! I get to visit quite frequently since my parents still live in Merritt Island, Fla and my brother Bob (North Miami High class of 65) and sister Dianne (Cocoa Beach High Class of 68)live in Orlando. After graduating from the University of Fla with a degree in Education, I moved to Merritt Island Fla and went back to school at Brevard Community College to become an RN. I worked as an Obstetric nurse for over 25 years and really loved helping new families during the birth process. Along the way I kept going to school, got a Masters in Nursing as an OB Clinical Nurse Specialist and finished my PhD at Texas Woman's Univeristy in 2001. Although I occasionally want to go back to school (just kidding), I keep busy working at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing where I am now the Assistant Dean for Faculty Development and Professional Continuing Education. I also teach several internet nursing courses. I hope to become a Dean of a College of Nursing before I retire. I have to say that I have had a wonderful life. I have been able to travel to some different places such as Mexico, London, Sweden and Finland. My family usually takes a cruise every summer so we have visited a lot of the Caribbean and Alaska too. My favorite place in the world is Jackson Hole, Wyoming. You can't beat it for scenery ..the pristine forests, rivers, and mountains. When I die I hope to have my ashes scattered in the Snake River to float for eternity! I have been able to take several white water float trips down that river and there is nothing so exhilarating! Another neat adventure I have experienced was going up in a hot air ballon. I loved it and almost considered buying one; that is until a guy who owned one told me about getting shot at by farmers!
