Bill's Story

Life Well, for the few of you who knew me, you might remember that I got married in December 1975, so I finished High School as a married "man" (man? yeah right!) I'd get up in the morning to go to school, while my wife went to work! The first year was tough, but I grew up quick. We had our first child, a son - Cody in 1977, then a second - Niko in 1980. No other children. Our boys didn't follow our footsteps and marry at an early age. In fact, at 25 & 29 yrs. old now, neither is married and never have been. Cody has just opened his own business, called "Stang-Hi Performance". It is an Auto Performance shop specializing in Mustangs. He performs "dyno" tuning, accessory installation, performance packages, etc. He's scared to death, but I'm proud of him for jumping out there like I did, opening my own shop at 25. Our younger son, Niko, is a very accomplished Chef, working at fine dining establishments such as City Club and Jubans, where he was "sous chef". He is currently taking a break from the food industry, still occasionally working with some local caterers, but his current love is creating music, mixing beats, etc. Unfortunately, this doesn't provide a great living...at least not yet. He hopes to land in a studio and do some producing. My wife, Beverly and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary this past December and have never been happier. I wish I could say we were "empty nesters", and even though we are in the truest sen...Expand for more
se, Bev's elderly mother lives with us 6 months out of the year as we are the primary caregivers for her along with Bev's sister who lives in North Carolina. So for 6 months of every year, we lose our freedom to do and go whenever and wherever we want. But it is a labor of love and a sacred duty that we lovingly perform. We love to travel and do so at least 3 times a year. Our favorite pastime is fine dining. I collect wine and enjoy my 500 bottle cellar, but I enjoy drinking that wine more than collecting it. Our favorite varietal is Pinot Noir. We also collect and enjoy Champagne. But most of our time is spent in an important ministry work. We are very active with the Highland Oaks Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and have enjoyed our life of service to our God, Jehovah. It has been the foundation of a happy marriage, child rearing, and running an honest, reputable business. Because of it, our life has purpose, real meaning, and a solid hope for the future. Workplace I opened a Volvo & Volkswagen specialty repair shop in 1983 and it's still going strong today. For about 10 years, I also sold pre-owned Hi-line import cars from the same location, but in 2005 decided to concentrate on our core business, service. I've enjoyed more free time and less stress! I still locate special request vehicles when there is a need, but no longer run a sales operation day to day. We currently employ about 8 people, including some family members.
