Bill Furbush:  

I was born in Atlanta, GA, February 19, 1935. I lived and went to public school in Cincinnati, OH, Dearborn, MI, and Seattle, WA. When I graduated from Lincoln High in 1953, I moved, with my family to Atlanta, GA. I lived there for five years. I attended Georgia State University, where I majored in art, and High Museum School of Art. I worked my way through school with miscellaneous jobs including selling encyclopedias door-to-door and teaching dancing at Arthur Murray in Atlanta and Los Angeles. In 1958 I moved to Los Angeles, CA where I attended Art Center School, Chouinard Art Institute, and Los Angeles City College. In 1963 I moved to Dallas, TX where I fulfilled my lifelong ambition by becoming a commercial artist. Over the next 25 years I was a production artist, free-lance artist, and art director. Later I worked for the Advertising Services department of the Dallas Morning News. I retired from the News on December 31, 1998. In November 1964 I married Jeanne, born and raised in Dallas, TX. We built a house in Irving, TX, a suburb of Dallas. We had four children and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. My wife was to retire in July 2003 and we purchased a 25 foot Class C motor home with which to tour the country when she did. However she was diagnosed with cancer in December 2002 and passed away March 11, 2004. In July and August of 2004 I took the 9,000 mile, trip around the country in our motor home, that we had been planning for nearly two years. In January and February of 2005 I took a 4,000 mile trip to Florida to escape the Texas winter, which we had planned to do every year. However, traveling without her lost most of its appeal.
