Bill's Story
Life
In the words of Jerry Garcia: "What a long, strange trip it's been". As of August 2009 (No change as of June 2012) , I am single and no longer looking. I also do not pay a Classmates premium for the privilege of seeing who views my profile or sends messages. Should you need to contact or communicate with me, try facebook. (Sorry Classmates).
From 1979 to 92 I worked at Lieberman Ent. overseeing the creative and marketing efforts for music and video departments located in America's leading retail chains. In 1992 I became Marketing Director for the iconic K-tel and remained there until 10/01. I ran a fun little store at Mall of America, Aquamassage, until recently. As of 8/09, I am looking for other employment opportunities. It's not fun to be looking for work while approaching the big 6 0. Since 10/09, I have been helping my friend Tom Brovold launch Spinzit Tools.
I'm still a semi-active musician/songwriter performing solo and, on occaision, with other musicians I have met during the past 40 years. I am also an original member of The K.O. Band. We did a number of reasonably well received reunion gigs a few years back, including Dylan's 60th birthday tribute at First Avenue. On July 1, 2009, the entire band reunited for a free concert at Wolfe Park Amphitheater in St. Louis Park. KO Band members went on to play with Prince, Glenn Campbell, Lee Greenwood and Kenny Chesney, among others....Expand for more
Since July 2009, I have remained involved with Blood On The Tracks Live. We perform annually in Maple Grove and St. Louis Park. The Salute to the Music of Bob Dylan features many of the area's finest performers. These free concerts raise awareness for Guitars For Vets, a worthy non-profit assisting veterans suffering from PTSD.
Shortly after High School, Ricky Lia braaten and I were founding members of Thundertree, a group that released an album on Roulette. This album was recently reissued (bootlegged) by a UK label, Radioactive Records. A legitimate licensed reissue will soon occur.
In spite of having also released two solo albums and performing on the same bill with the likes of The Box Tops, Johnny Winter, Ted Nugent, Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Johnson.... my most recognizable claim to fame is the Futon Gallery jingle which aired extensively in the Twin Cities up until a few years ago. Other jingles for Iten Chevrolet, Audio King, Oak Grove Dairy and Wyoming Outfitters, among others, received more airplay than all of my albums combined.
Through internet searches, I have discovered radio stations out there that still play some of my/ Thundertree's stuff from time to time.
A record label from S. Korea reissued my "Persephone" album. That was a nice ego boost. "Travelin'" is next.
Would love to hear from my fellow classmates. Drop me a line sometime.
