Bill's Story
Life
Married in 1983 to CJ Culver. We met at Ross Roy Advertising, where she was a fashion copywriter for K-Mart (I know, it's an oxymoron) and I was making sales training videos for Chrysler dealerships.
Lived in Grosse Pointe Woods until 1985 when Ross Roy moved out to Bloomfield and so did CJ's job. Bought a house in Ferndale before it was fashionable and lived there until 1989 when our only son Topher (short for Christopher) turned one. In the meantime, his mother left advertising, went to grad school and became a Psycho Therapist (in her case it IS two words). After Ferndale, we moved out to Romeo, Michigan and bought a 150-year-old house (watched too much Bob Villa) that we lived in and worked on for about six years.
In 1995, we moved back to Grosse Pointe Park and into an old Georgian revival money pit on Bedford South of Jefferson where we lived while Topher attended my Alma Maters, Pierce and Grosse Pointe South (aka "The High")
In 2004, CJ ran for State Rep as a Democrat from Grosse Pointe which was an interesting civics lesson. put a medicated stent in the one that was 99% blocked, so I was back on the road in 24 hours. Try getting a transmission replaced that quickly.
My big sister (Sally Harrison, now Doctor Sally Roberts) who is GP High Class of '65 and Almas College Class of '69, was diagnosed with breast cancer in December '06, had a lumpectomy in early 2007 and is doing well but tired of being sick. She teaches Math Education to grad students down at Wayne State.
In other family news, my Dad passed away in '87 and Mom died in 2006, just a month shy of her 94th birthday.
As of 2008, CJ and I are living in GP Farms. I'm working as freelance writer and CJ has a business doing employee assitance for the local Pipefitters and Plumbers. I'm also playing a little music. The past two summers, I've played keyboards with an oldies band "Kevin Tee and The Firebirds" at some outdoor park concerts and Dream Cruise events, etc. I'm also playing with a jobbing band (Busker Brown) and doing original blues/roots music around town with the accordion.
Topher is living up in Toronto where graduated from the Comedy Writing and Performance Program at Humber College. He is signed with an agent in Toronto, where is doing standup and fronting a local band while trying to make it as an actor/comedian in the Great White North.
