Bill's Story

Life (2004) I left Strongsville in 1979 and went to Miami, OH. That same year my parents moved to Minnesota. When "home" moved to the upper mid-west so did my destination during most breaks from college. Other than my freshman year when I came back to Cleveland to hang out with my girlfriend Dana Taddeo (Strongsville '80) and two reunions I haven't spent much time in Ohio since 1979. After Miami, 3M Company hired me and moved me to Los Angeles, where I've been since. I currently live in Long Beach, CA. In 1988 I received an MBA from Pepperdine University. 3M has occasionally asked me to pursue jobs back in Minnesota, but so far they haven't been able to convince me that having snow on the ground 7-8 months of the year is a good thing. I've dabbled in start-ups, and have invested money in seemingly everything but CA real-estate (nice move Bill). I used to race Hobie Cat catamarans nationally, but sold my boat a few years back. I miss the competition and flying a hull over the waves. Life gets in the way dang it. I live in Belmont Shore, Long Beach, CA and rent a small house a few blocks from the beach. Recently, I got married to my longtime girlfriend of 8 yrs in Kona Hawaii. We've been married a whopping 4 months. No doubt many of my fellow Strongsville friends have been married for 10, 15, 20+ years. A late bloomer - we plan to have a family. I am really looking forward to tossing the baseball with my 10 year old son (if we have one) When I'm 55! Seriously, I am looking forward to finally being a dad if we're fortunate to have a family of our o...Expand for more
wn. Like many, I work too much, but it has allowed me to travel over the years. I've been to Russia, China, Europe, all across the US. My parents live in S Carolina, outside Charleston, which is always a great place to spend time. My new relatives are in San Diego, which is also a nice place to pass time. Skiing is the winter passion. I used to ski patrol and teach handicap skiing when I first moved to CA, now I just ski when there is good snow. Two years ago, having never run more than a few miles at any one time, I ran a 1/2 marathon in 2hr 8 minutes. I can't imagine how I would have managed another 13+ miles to complete a full marathon. I hadn't been married until this year. I've been with the same company for 21 yrs. I do miss the seasons, and sometimes think about moving back East, then I'll meet some new transplants from the East who tell me that working in the snow and rain is not quite as much fun as going to Jr High and High School in the elements, I check the local weather and decide it's ok to stay another year. When I figure out what this life is about I'll let you all know, and if you've already figured it out I'd love to hear what you've discovered along the way. I have great memories from Strongsville High School. Anyone from the class of '79 who reads this is more than welcome to touch base. All the best, Bill Pearson April 2005 Update. Been married 14 months and surprise surprise we're expecting a little girl June 9th. We're also moving to San Diego so we're closer to my wife's parents. Still with 3M. Can't wait to be a dad.
