When I moved back to Virginia nearly 10 years ago I happened to Google my name. Two hits, both related to my car hobby. When I Googled my name today, the hits started petering out after 10 pages. What have I done? LOL.

Haven't visited Classmates website for 10 years, so a few things have changed. (I see Classmates is still using my picture for their signup promotions)
When I turned 58 I decided to retire early and live off my savings until I could draw SS. After living in California for 20 years, in 2002 I returned to Virginia, settling in Front Royal where I had inherited my grandmothers 125 year old home. After completing the repairs caused by 20 years of deferred maintenance, I discovered I liked to pound nails and slap paint, so I got involved in real estate fixer-uppers to stay busy. Thanks to the bubble bursting, I'm sitting on a 14 room, 3 story mountain home waiting for the market to improve while I enjoy the million dollar view of the Shenandoah Valley and the peaceful pace of rural living.
While waiting for the real estate market to improve I have become something of a political activist here in Warren County, ranting and raving, jumping up and down waving my arms in the air (figuratively speaking, of course). So far I have caused a landslide re-election defeat of an incumbent County Supervisor, the dissolution of the Social Services Board of Directors, and caused the School Board to create a formal, written Religious Exemption policy. So far, the local newspaper has mentioned my name in 53 articles, much to the chagrin of our local Good Ol' Boy politicians.

f being a class clown and troublemaker, I enlisted in the Navy on 10-19-60, just 2 days after turning 17. Depending on whom you talk to it was enlist in the military or go to jail.
Four years and a bazillion continuing education courses later I completed two years of college and qualified for OCS, but spit & polish is not my cup of tea. I had dragons to slay and fair damsels to rescue.
How to describe all these years of bouncing along this rocky road of life? Slave for VEPCO, worked for the company that invented credit cards, gas station owner during the gas crunches of '73 & '79, hippie dope smoker (spent a few days in jail for that trick), retired in '80, gambler/card-counter in Vegas/Reno/Lake Tahoe (gave me ulcers), moved to California, midway between Oakland and San Jose, and became involved in commercial vehicle sales for Ford. Cars have always been a hobby; it just got out of control and I wound up making a living at it. I am the only salesman I know who has made a million dollar sale of vehicles.....twice.
No mortgage, no bills, no kids, no wife, I outlived the ex, and no anchors holding my butt. I kept one high school promise to myself and in 1970 I bought a 1960 Corvette and 41 years later I still have it. Google Vette Magazine's feature article on "Driving A Blue Streak".

I drove it cross-country to attend one of Jim Weedons reunion get-togethers in 2001. While driving back to California I saw the newscast of the World Trade Centers disaster while stopped for breakfast in Oklahoma.
