Bill's Story

2014 Pittsburg HS Reunion - Class of 1963. College High School 1960-1962 (class of 1963 in spirit), Lakeside Elementary and Junior High School. Hi Everyone! Sorry I can't be at this reunion. Living overseas only allows for periodic visits to America which unfortunately have not coincided with any reunion. But to catch up, here's a brief look at my time since I last saw most of you at PHS in 1963. After '63, there were business and science degrees from PSU and my Master's at Emporia. Weaved in among these were positions at high schools and several universities in America and Australia until 1990. In 1991 I moved to New Zealand and currently live in Diamond Harbour, located near Christchurch on the South Island. While living overseas I have held team management roles in business, government and universities. . In 1990 I met Diane Baldwin (U.K.) on the way to Mt. Everest base camp in Nepal. We were together in New Zealand until her death in 2004. In 2008 I met Sally Lewis from Michigan. Sally moved to N.Z. in 1975, and is owner/director of the management consultancy firm VargoLewis. We were married in 2010. Sally's son Joe, his wife and our grandson live in Sydney. I have two sisters living in Kansas. My long-term interests have been antique jewellery (currently I'm writing a book on Edwardian jewellery 1901-1914) , orchestral music and opera, 20th century history, pre-1800 maps, photography, travel (three 6 month self-organised world trips) and motorcycling. I've been mountaineering many times in Europe with the Matterhorn & Mt. Blanc summits among other peaks. In closing, I hope all of you have a great time catching up with each other.
