Billy's Story
Life
I went straight from high school to college in order to get a IIS draft deferment. I spent two years going to school at El Centro Junior College and UT in Austin. Once the draft was abolished I quit college and worked and travelled for two years. In 1974 I went back to school at UT and graduated in 1978. I was a foreign exchange student during the academic year of 1976-1977. I got married in 1978 and have been happily married ever since. I then worked at various jobs until I decided I wanted to become a draftsman. I took classes an did well on my assignments. I got a job working for a home builder in Austin drafting plans. I progressed from there to a job in the City of Austin's division of engineering. I worked there for three and a half years until I got a job at Southwest Texas State Univ...Expand for more
ersity. I worked there as the Head CADD Drafter for eleven and a half years. While I worked for the university I got a masters degree in digital cartography. I also became seriously ill with hepatitis C in 1993 and had to have a liver transplant in 1999. I have recovered and have done well on all of my post operative checkups.I now work for Midwestern State University as the Director of the MSU Geographic Information System. I grew up to be a digital cartographer. I enjoy the slow and easy life in Wichita Falls and plan to spend the rest of my life here. At least that's the plan for now. Life happens while you're making other plans.I hope that whoever reads this will contact me through classmates.com. I enjoy hearing from people no matter how long it has been since I last saw them. Take care. Billy
