Blake's Story
Life
It has been nearly twenty years since I graduated from AHS. After graduating, I went to MSCD for 1 year, then went into the Air Force. My "dream sheet" for the AF said (in order), Germany, England, Spain...so they sent me to Sacramento, CA! I spent my time in the AF doing systems work in the Accounting and Finance Office. I left the Air Force to complete my degree. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from MSCD with a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems in 1995.
Shortly after leaving the Air Force, I started work at the United States Small Business Administration downtown. I was called down for an interview at the "U shaped building at 19th & Stout". I broke out in a cold sweat when I got there--this was the same government building that I had shipped out of to go to the Air Force just 4 years earlier. I still work for the SBA, doing Financial Systems work. It is a great job, great pay, great benefits, and a ton of time off.
I got married to Katrina on July 16th, 2005 in Morrison, CO. It was way too hot of a day for cold feet! Our son, Evan Blake, was born on November 8th, 2006....Expand for more
We currently live around 6th & Garrison in Lakewood. He is an amazing boy, naturally. He just started walking, which adds a whole new dimension to parenting.
My major hobby is bicycling, which I got into just a couple of years ago. This last summer, a friend and I rode the Triple By-Pass, a club-sponsored ride from Evergreen to Avon. 120 miles, and 10,210 vertical feet over three passes (Juniper, Loveland, and Vail). During the spring, summer, and fall I ride as much as I can. Some favorite rides are Juniper/Squaw, Lookout mountain, and Left hand canyon in boulder. Fun...
My other major hobby is home renovation. Starting back in 94, I would buy a house, live in it, fix it up, then rent it out. I did this about every three years. I finally sold one in 2002?. Since approximately 2000, we have been renovating my cabin in Fairplay. In the summer of 2007, we built a two car garage at the cabin. This was kind of fun, since new construction is MUCH easier than renovation!
Time is an amazing thing. I don't feel like its been twenty years (almost) since I graduated, yet the calendar says so...
