Geri's Story
UPON GRADUATING FROM South Dade High School I went to Miami-Dade Community College for a short while (one semester). My father was always very strict and I want to give a "shout out" to all of my friends who helped me "pull one over on him...like Mona Trugilio (she let me borrow her jeans) my Dad thought that (hookers wore jeans...long story) and I wore them once thanks to her. Thanks to Anne Martin and Steve Martin for being my first friends at South Dade. It was a rough time when I arrived at the school (my parents had just divorced) and found it difficult to fit in I always did. But there were some remarkable friends and groups along the way...of being in Marching Band and Symphonic band, Senora Kennedy and Spanish class, and great friends like Laura Ostashev, Stuart Gonzalez, Lorinda Harris, Marisol Rivera,Michelle Kaufman, Jackie Schneider, Anne Garner, Phoebe Love, Sean Booth, Jeri Davis, Andrea Boone, and Ricky Carr. e are so many under classmates I was friends with.
After leaving Miami-Dade I joined the U.S. Navy and got stationed ( I was in the Aviation field) at Patuxent River, MD. I married my first husband Paul and we had 2 beautiful kids together a daughter Stephanie and a son Justin. My daughter has two sons so I'm an extremely PROUD Grandma! My son Justin got married last year and is currently serving in the U.S. Navy ( I can't wait for more beautiful grandchildren from them). My youngest son is in his first year of college.
I live in North Carolina and when they say that saying about a "Carolina Blue" sky you'd have to come here to experience it. I don't work anymore...I'm a Domestic Goddess.
There are some faculty teachers I left out but that's ok. The most memorable things for me are singing our "Alma Mater" on the bus when we were right near South Dade High School after every football game, the Pep Rally's, and just the wonderful spirit that the students had.
