Brandi's Story
Life
After graduating from Hobart HS, I moved to Washington state and got married. We lived in WA for a year, he finished out his assignment in the military then we moved back home. We had two children together--Morgan and Jake. We were divorced in 1994. The children and I stayed in the Portage area until my fiance at the time passed away from a massive heart attack in 2000. We lived in Knox close to my sister for five years then moved to Plymouth last year to be closer to my work.
My education has been a slow moving process. I was an LPN (one-year certificate) for several years shortly after my divorce, been an RN (associate degree) for two years and am now just about finished with my BSN (bachelors degree in nursing). I hope to eventually become a nurse practioner -- hop...Expand for more
efully, I'll graduate college sometime before my daughter does!
I've been so focused on classes and children that I never did get remarried. Now that my kids are teenagers, it's just easier to stay single. I've kinda gotten used to my independance now.
I worked at the same long-term care facility for five years while I was an LPN as well as working odd agency and home health jobs. Now I am working acute-care on the medical/surgical unit at the local hospital. I've been there for two years and love it!! I also volunteer my time whenever I can to the clinic for those who cannot afford healthcare.
Kids, classes, work, volunteering, maintaining the house, scrapbooking,and keeping a social life (which is completely laughable at this point) keep me pretty busy these days.
