Laurie's Story
What I've been doing - yeeks! That's too much to type - brief synopsis: Degree in medical technology, worked too many jobs to list, in several states, Germany and AK. Married/divorced x2, 2 kids - one in UT, one in TX. Currently retired (forced into early by health issues) and surviving on - wait for it - SS disability - which turns to plain old this month! And a small retirement from my ex's military retirement. Have had 6 orthopedic surgeries since fall 2007 (several previous to these, but spread out)! Still recovering from the one in Apr this year.
Still love to knit and crochet, have picked up machine knitting (but haven't done it in a while). Now doing indexing (name extractions)...Expand for more
for Familysearch - absolutely love doing it - like solving a puzzle - we take info from old records (my oldest was recent - 1590 Warwickshire England Parish records - what a trip) and put it into searchable databases.
I don't think I sang much back in the old days, as I was told by my lovely mother, that she couldn't stand to listen to me. Took me a lot of years, singing in choirs where I was living, to find out that I have a professional quality voice! Finally was able to take lessons from someone who really knows what she is doing, and really loved it. I sing and sometimes conduct in church. Unfortunately, there aren't any large choirs in the area where I live - I really miss that.
