Bob's Story
After graduation I went to LA for the summer (work & fun) then returned to attend CWSC in Ellensburg with the plan of becoming a Phys Ed teacher/coach.
In the summers I worked in Alaska and/or Hood River. After graduation I tried getting a teaching position in Hood River but I guess everyone knew me well enough to not be interested in hiring me. I got married in 1973 and worked at the Diamond Fruit Growers processing plant, bartended at Chug’s Tavern, and taught gymnastics/tumbling in The Dalles. My “career path” was not becoming what I had envisioned and consequently in 1975 my wife & I joined the Navy together and after boot camp were stationed in Virginia. We were both hospital corpsmen, I was assigned aboard a troop transport ship (LPH) and did cruises to the Mediterranean; seeing Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Turkey, the west coast of Africa, east coast of South America and Cuba. After 4 years we left the service and returned to the west coast and eventually settled in Kennewick, WA in February 1980. My wife returned to CWSC and I got hired by the City of Pasco and became a firefighter/paramedi...Expand for more
c; we grew apart and divorced.
I met Sherry in 1982 and we married in 1983. Sherry & I have two adult children: Amber, age 34, she is married, completed law school (University of San Diego) and is a lawyer, living in California; Evan, age 31 is also recently married. He is an airplane mechanic and they are currently living in Spokane.
We are not grandparents yet. Sherry and I have been married 36 years. We enjoy traveling and have done several European Adventures (Rick Steve’s Tours) and most recently a Viking River Cruise on the Danube with three other HRHS classmates and their spouses in SEP 2018. Sherry & I visit Kauai every other year and enjoy wine & wine tasting. Life is good!!! I still own a trampoline but only get it out occasionally—I am definitely slowing down.
During the aging process I have learned that the most important things in life are: family, friendships, health, and what you LEARN from life as you experience it. That last sentence is pretty heavy stuff from someone who spent the majority of his life “up in the air”. Love all you guys and gals! 1969 Blue Dragon thru and thru!
