Bob's Story

I went to college at Abilene Christian Univ. studying Math & Physics - and staying involved with music and poetry. I got married at the end of my Junior year and by fortitude, love and many miracles we've managed to stay together since then. Then I studied Computer Science in grad school and went to work doing research programming. I continued singing for weddings and such. In 1981 we moved from Texas to North Carolina when I took a job doing computer systems management for GE. Since then I've done similar work for several major companies. Over the years we've "owned" 6 houses. I've enjoyed (and hated) many a project working on plumbing, electrical, carpentry or other projects -- most of which I've done a LOT of the work myself. I love fixing/making things happen with machines and houses. After a few years in NC, I got involved with a men's group and got turned on to hand drumming West African style. Ever since I've made it a hobby to study & play djembe. I regularly play with a community drumming group as well as contribute percussive color to Off the Deep End Ensemble. I also keep involved with the men's group in one way or another exploring mytho-poetic work among men. I also got involved with a kind of movement/dance called Contact Improv -- a very fun way of meeting and playing with others. If there were one thing I could go back and do differently -- it would be to take what I've learned from InterPlay and be more of an agent of grace and ease and fun in the world. I eventually also got involved in something called InterPlay® and took training as a leader/teacher in it(2001). It's a practice that is based on the centrality of the body-mind, transformation through play, and the physicality of grace. My poetry took a different turn when I learned how to improvise poetry in the moment. I don't write...Expand for more
as much as I used to. I'm a founding member of a wild & crazy improv theater/dance/music performing group called Off the Deep End Ensemble. You can search for us on the web -- there's even a picture of us all. We enjoy doing performances that help create and expand community. We love and support each other and have a blast doing what we do. My spiritual interests broadened over the years to include many interesting things by being introduced to Rumi, Lala, Hafiz, qi gong, the Feldenkrais Method of somatic education, meditation practices of various kinds, acupuncture, Reiki and other alternative health care modalities. Reiki and the Feldenkrais work especially make a huge difference in my life. I love to relax by drumming, dancing, walking around a lake, holding hands, being with a close friend, watching a fun movie, reading a good murder mystery or sci-fi novel, playing with or petting one of my cat companions(currently Topaz & Anastasia) :-) I recently (2006) graduated from a 4 year training to become a Feldenkrais Practitioner. I love helping people find more ease and grace in their own bodies. In my work I create lessons through touch and movement to help my clients discover how to be more aware of themselves and the possibilities they have for moving. They get to expand their self-image and feel a greater sense of inner authority for how they organize themselves for action in the world. And when I see someone leave my office with a new sense of themselves and their personal power and hope, I feel a deep sense of awe and joy for being blessed with the opportunity to witness their transformation. My business is called Triangle Feldenkrais and you can easily find some interesting things about me by doing a search for that name. I'd love to hear from you after you take a look to see what it's about. Bob
