Bob's Story

Life, I've been self-employed since 1981. I've owned a General Store in N.H. a Video Wholesale Business, covering Portland, Me. to Ct. and a Cellular Phone business covering the northeast sector of the U.S. of A. From East Orange, NJ to Buffalo, NY and all points East. All successful bootstraps operations. I've done Insurance and Annuities, in West Bridgewater, Ma. for a couple of years, and I was a licensed broker. I have sold my house on #138 in So. Easton, and moved to Houston, Tx to be closer to my two sons, and their families. I had a 40' diesel pusher Motor Coach and saw most of the East side of the big river. I love to be around people & instigating a good time. I love to sing and play guitar, sax, drums and keyboards. I'm singing with the Note-ables Community Chorus in Clear Lake City here, and the Men Of Leisure barbershop quartet group and sing Bass. I have a terrific family (5 kids) and we're very close with each other and I love to laugh and love being alive. I have been invited and accepted the position of Announcer for the NASA Area Little League games in Clear Lake City (Houston) and do double headers all week and 6 games on Saturday. It's about 38 hrs/wk and I get a free lunch or dinner when I want it and a lot of thanks from the fans and kids on the teams. I find myself reflecting on life, now that I have a few miles on me. I'm grateful to be an American, a Navy Veteran, and a father, and living on this part of the planet. My Message To All: 1)Never loose your sense of humor...Keep it chained somewhere handy. "Cause ya never know... 2)Never loose your sense of honor, it will be one of the most important things people will remember you by. 3)Never loose your sense of humility, for without humility we have no hand for our fellow man, and no kinship with our Divine Creator. 4)Never forget the good things done for you, and if they can't be paid back, pay them forward; It makes for a better world. 5)...And, may God nourish you with all you need. This is all original stuff, and heart felt. Use it as you wish. School My first crush was with Linda Nickerson. Problem one was that I didn't know what to do about it as I was so young and inexperienced. (7th Grade?)I still think very fondly of her, even though we never really went any...Expand for more
where but school. My fault... My first huge crush was Cynthia Brennan. She lived just down the street. I guess you never forget the first huge love of your life, and I named my youngest child Cynthia, with her in mind. :-) I was heart broken when it ended, and she was too. My fault...sorry Cindy, truely. I'll talk with you if you ask me to. Mrs. Hassan, the music teacher for Pembroke Elementary School put me on center stage with class musical productions in the 5th and 6th grade. I was terrified at the time, but I've always loved to sing and still do. I appreciate her for pushing me to have the experience in public. As terrified as I was, it was the best thing for me as I was so damned shy. I do well with the stage now, when the opportunity is raised I'm usually the M.C. for church functions and the like, I've had my own band in the Navy...years ago! Trying to get one going here. And I have no problem with karaoke today. :-) Most of my school teachers were good and I liked them. I was, however, mis-cast for my class division section as I didn't think the big exam in the lunchroom in the 7th grade was anything important, and I checked off alot of answers just to catch up to Bobby Kalio and so it was a crap shoot and I wound up in 7C2 instead of the main stream with my peers. I resented the placement so bad I shut down, and would hardly participate in class. As a result I had the pleasure of doing another tour of the 7th grade. Then I became a rebel. Self confidence issues and all the trappings of that stygma, exacerbated the tumultuous feelings from the hormones and struggles of a young teenage boy, and I was anti authority and Charlie Brown at any opportunity. Such a shame. I have a 142 IQ today, I just never had a clue as a kid, and no one had the time to guide me to get me back on track. Watch the kids in your life closely, and be there for them when they wander from the path is all I can say... I turned out well anyway, in the long run...once I found out who I was. That took 40 years to enter the halls of AA. It's been 25 years now. I'm happy. I don't know if I'd want to do that again, but if I did, I'd want to know first of all, who and what I was...I mean the self confidence and self understanding. A tall order for a teenager, but there it is...
