From AF Brat to 2nd Lt. to Lt. Col. in 41 easy years! I reckon it's kinda hard to seperate it all out here with my heritage... but I will concentrate only on my active duty years: 1968 - 1988.
From my earliest memory, all I ever wanted to do is fly jets. Looking back on my active duty career, I flew for 18 of 20 years. (In spite of the 'college boys' who continually tried to get me to take non-flying jobs - to enhance my career! You just have to be 'brighter' than those guys, and more tenacious to stay in the cockpit!) I look back upon ...Expand for more
my AF career today with great humility... how many of you are able to say 'I captured a dream?!' I did, and I realized it with every start button I pushed!
My greatest 'sense of accomplishment' comes when I think of what I may have contributed to the AF, and how I may have helped various folks I had the priviledge to have worked for, and with....
I also have a great sense of pride for the service I rendered; forever knowing it was a finite period of my life. I can honestly say, I eperienced my AF career to it's fullest! Wasn't much I missed...
