Bob's Story
So many years have passed, our high school years are but a very small part of who we have become. While at Grant, I received many athletic scholarship offers from a variety of schools but decided to attend and play football at Valley College in the fall of 1964. After the fall semester at Valley College, I accepted a full athletic scholarship to the University of Houston from the spring of 1965 through June of 1969. I left Houston and tried my hand at professional football in Canada and the NFL. I had what I call " a cup of coffee" with the New York Giants during the 1969 and 1970 seasons. In 1971, I married and moved back to Houston to finish my BS. Ed. in 1972. I began teaching and coaching and while doing so earned an MA. Ed. in 1975. We left Houston in 1976 and moved back to Southern California and settled in Placentia. I found teaching and coaching jobs in Fullerton, Brea, and Pamona from 1976 through 1978. Our first of two children, Erin, was born in July of 1977. I left teaching and coaching and moved to Northern California in 1978 beginning a career in sales as an independent sales rep. We had our second child, Alysan, in 1...Expand for more
980 and I continued in sales until 1986. In the fall of 1986 I began teaching and coaching at Vallejo High School in Vallejo, Ca. In 1992 we moved to New Hampshire. Teaching jobs were difficult to get so we took over a convenience store until 1997. In 1996, Erin graduated from H.S. and moved to Montana to pursue a nursing career. She is now a director of a Dialysis Clinic in Everett, Wa. In 1997, I separated and divorced and moved back to Northern Ca. with Alysan . Alysan attended Benicia HS in Benicia, Ca. for one semester as a junior but decided to take the California HS Proficiency Exam. She took the exam and passed it so I signed her out of HS . Ultimately, she earned her doctorate in Physical Therapy and currently works in Seattle, Wa. As you can imagine, I am very proud of both girls. In 1999, I married Rosemary with a five year old daughter, Jill.. We have been married for 18 years and Jill will be 24 in Aug. 2017. Jill is currently attending community college and working at a Catholic Pre-School.. Rosemary has been a travel agent for 35 years and works in Orinda, Ca. I retired from teaching in 2011 and enjoy each day very much.
