I returned to graduate school at SJSU and taught biology at De Anza College for three years while the caretaker of the Fremont Older Preserve, in Saratoga. I then became a ranger at Lassen Volcanic National Park for four years before returning to work in Cupertino for Betchart Expeditions. We plan and conduct natural history and cultural heritage trips all over the world. d at El Camino Hospital for almost ten years. We have two sons, Ian and Tyler. Both are artists, Ian plays bass in the Botticellis and Tyler is a ceramist. Ian graduated from SFSU and Tyler will be going in the fall of 2008. Deborah is a hypnotherapist in private practice. I continue to work in the office when not traveling. No end to working in sight!!
Along the way, Deborah and I co-founded what was then the largest home schooling program in the US public school system, in Cupertino. I was seven years a Cub Scout leader and sometimes basketball coach. We raised Guide Dogs for the Blind for four years. We kept the last dog that didn't make it for our family pet. We have lived on a quiet street in Los Altos for the last 22 years and we plan to stay here until they carry us out!
