Bob's Story

Bob's Intro Message The Short Version: After I kicked Anthony M's ass at the old go-cart track, I was no longer treated like a nerd. Anthony and Mark always used to make fun of me because I had a little belly and rode to school on a moped. Sorry, but my folks didn't spoil me with a new Trans Am on my 16th birthday. I got my GED at 15, spent a year at PBCC, didn't like it, and joined the Marine Corp. I was stationed at Kaneohe Bay Hawaii just North of Honolulu and had the time of my life. I guess now it's safe to say I always had a crush on Ellen. She was a little hottie, but she treated me like I didn't exist - I got over it. In the scheme of things, in the Big Picture, being disliked, teased, and excluded by a bunch of shallow, spoiled, over privileged, rich kids was not that important in my life. I found my purpose, and learned about honor in the Corp. After serving, I went to college and became a journalist. I started out as a club/wedding DJ, and also worked as a DJ on the radio. I once even had my own power mix show on 95.5 WOVV in Fort Pierce. I transitioned from that to radio news, print journalism, and TV. But as a "real" journal...Expand for more
ist, writing hard news, I have worked in every editorial medium and capacity for the last 20 years. I covered the 4th Infantry Division for CBS radio during Desert Storm, and I'm due to spend 3 months or more with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan this Spring and Summer. I have been happily married for 18 years and have 3 kids; an 18-yr-old girl going to college in Texas, a 15-yr-old boy on the Honor Roll in high school, and a 10-yr-old boy who is batting .546 in Little League this year. All in all, life is good and I'm very satisfied with how my life has turned out. Even though I wasn't very happy in high school at PBP, I learned, eventually, that I don't have to be popular with the "Cool" crowd to be really happy. I hope others, especially the "cool" kids, found their way, and their own happiness, during their life journey. I'd really like to hear from you all and find out how you have been. Even though I wasn't the most popular kid, I'd still like to catch up with those of you who would be willing. We might learn something new, and I'm always willing to do that. And this is what I'm doing now: Google my name and blogspot. You'll find me.
