Robert's Story
Hi All,
Just to jog your memory, if you aren't sure you remember me. While at North, I was involved in: basketball, track, KNHS, Golden Valiant, Amatuer Radio club, American Field service, Speech club and Aeolians.
I grew up in the 4000 block of 174th Street (later Artesia), attended Perry Elementary K-5, and Madison Elementary 6-8.
I moved again from Rural Northeast California to the Piney Woods area of Texas, and am married (for the second time) with 2 grown sons, 4 grandsons, 1 great grandson and 3 great granddaughters. My wife graduated from Edison High in Huntington Beach.
Both sons are Eagle Scouts and my wife and I were very active volunteers for the Boy Scouts in Los Angeles, until we moved to NE California. We have both been honored a few times by the Boy Scouts with awards for our service. I have been the Dean of the College of Commissioner Science, an Assistant Council Commissioner, a rock climbing instructor, a member of the High Adventure Team, and I ran or served in the kitchen, as a cook, for several volunteer weekends at camp each year, and that was what I was doing before we moved to Rural Northeast...Expand for more
California..
I have retired after working for more than 40 year in IT where I dealt with everything from mainframes to PCs. It has been interesting working in and around the technology as it has evolved and shrunk. I also retired from the ministry in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and now fill in when other Pastors need a little time off or while a church searches for a new pastor.
I joined this social networking site to connect with some of my former fellow students, but it seems most people are like me and join for a while, then get bored waiting to find friends who might still check in from time to time. I have decided not to spend any more on this money pit so email me if you want to get back in touch. I haven't been to any of my reunions, primarily because my schedule was so busy that I just never made it. Maybe next time, maybe not.., it's a long way from the eastern part of Texas back to Torrance.
Although I have had health issues in the past, currently I am pretty healthy. I hope to hear from some of my old friends -- Contact me -- bobshockley1 at gmail dot com to get back in touch.
My best to all,
Bob
