More about Bob:"I am retired from the USAF and loved the travel. I have had the honor of being the President of the world's finest numismatic organization, Florida United Numismatists, Inc for the past four years.
I was born in Okinawa. Lived in Largo FL until entry to the USAF in 1970. Spent several years at Lackland AFB, San Antonio TX and then a year at Osan AB, Korea. I was reassigned from Korea to Randolph AFB, TX (San Antonio). While at Randolph, I join and was a charter member of the South Texas Archeological Association, which accomplished many digs in and around San Antonio. After a short stint there, I accepted an assignment to Naples, Italy with the Allied Forces Southern Europe. This was a fantastic assignment. While in Naples, I was fortunate enough to dive on a sunken city which is an ancient portion of the modern suburb of Pozzuoli. I also was able to do archeological digs at the ancient city of Liturnum and was allow on several active digs at Pompeii. From Naples, I was stationed at Patrick AFB, FL to the Air Force Technical Applications Center. After three years there, I was selected to move up US A1A a few miles to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. I was the Chief of Administration for the 6555th Aerospace Test G...Expand for more
roup and also was trained by NASA to give classes on Shuttle safety for the "Blue" suiters and civilians at CCAFS. I worked the first four Space Shuttle and three Titan IV launches. After this assignment, I was assigned back to Italy, this time to San Vito dei Normanni AS outside the city of Brindisi. (Brindisi during Roman times was and still is the terminus of the Via Appia - the Appian Way). I closed out this assignment as the First Sergeant for the 2113th Communications Squadron. After this assignment, I was selected by Hq Air Force Communications Center in Illinois to become the Non-commissioned Officer in Charge of Protocol for the AFCC Commander and Vice Commander. After a year, I asked and was granted a cross base transfer to the newly organized United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM). At USTRANSCOM, I taught a military computer system to a worldwide military community. Our training team traveled and taught at some great locations around the world. In 1991, I retired with 21 years active duty. After military life, I have become a Numismatist (I actually collected and sold coins while in the military). I have been very active in this hobby and am the President of the Florida United Numismatists, Inc., which is the State Organization for coin collectors and dealers. I have been awarded two American Numismatic Association's (ANA) Presidential Awards; and two Florida United Numismatists Presidential Awards, the Glen Smedley Award presented by the ANA and named a Numismatic Ambassador by Numismatic News and many other awards. Numismatics is more than a hobby to me - it is a passion.".
