After graduation from Bonita, I became a biology major at the University of Redlands, where I also sang in the University Choir and Chapel Singers. I ventured northward during my junior year, studying at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon, but returned to graduate from Redlands in 1971. My interest in environmental science led me to a relatively new Ecology graduate program at UC Davis, where I completed both my master's and doctorate under the guidance of an inspiring professor who was an internationally-known expert in wildlife pest control (particularly rodents).
