Vannah(Buster)'s Story
The Mingus site is my wife, Kim Cook, she is to cheep to post her own. Yeah, I'm still alive and well, living in Cottonwood, Az. Life has been quite a party.
I guess that I will start in the 2nd grade. I went to Muir Elementry school from 56 to 61, thats in Merced, Calif. I guess that I was a little lover at an early age , I had 3 or 4 girl friends during that time. Two that stand out were Penny Jardine and Betsy Simmerman. Then it was off to Hoover Junior High School . We had to leave Merced before I graduated. My best friend the whole Time that I lived in Merced was Jesse Woosley, my girl friend was Sandy Ezell. Her and I wrote to each other for a while after I left but we were young and dumb. I was at Hoover from 61 to 63 . Then it was off to the 'Magical Island Of Okinawa" . The two and one half years that I spent there were by far the best times of my life. I had been playing the drum's for a couple of years before I got there and got in a rock band shortly after arriving on the island. The band was called the "Pseudoes". WE were actually pretty good and played at the teen clubs a lot. We also played other venues as well. We played priet parties, We even played at a strip club off base once. You can imagine how exciting that was!!!!. I was just a 15 year old country boy. The other guy's in the band were Johnny Evens, Bobby Uyesato, and Chester Tamashiro. I guess that my best friend was Tommy Wilson. I met the love of my life there, her name is Melody McLean. God I loved her, broke my hart when I had to leaveEven though we were going steady and wrote to each other for about 6 months I ended up on the Calif. coast and she went back to Montgomery Alabama, to far apart and to young to do anything about it. I went to Port Wheel Jr. High School and Kubaski high school. I was on Okinawa from the spring of 62 until the summer of 65. ...Expand for more
From Okinawa it was off to Lompoc Calif. and Cabrillo High School. I was there from 65 and graduated in 67. While I was there I was a "Suffer", and partied alot. I went steady with Nina Baumann, friends were Gary Lauver, Mike Monteleone, Doug Page, Terry Monroe, and a lot of others. After graduation I went to Modesto J.C. for a year, I thought that I had had enough school so I droped out, left home and partyed for about six months. Went broke, went back home, and started my career.
I took a job at a union glass shop, started my apprenticeship in Modesto Ca. Then spent two years in Palm Springs Ca. as an apprentice. Went back to Modesto, finished the last two years of my apprenticeship and worked in and around Modesto for about ten years.
Left California in 1981, went to Houston Texas, worked on high rise building. Got tired of the humidity, left there in 1983. Went to Reno Nevada, worked on the new casinos in Reno and Lake Tahoe for about three years. Then I headed for Cottonwood Az. I started my own glass business in 1986.I owned and operated that business until 2007 when I sold it and retired.
I've been married three times. The first two were certifible lunatics, but the third one is great. WE were married in 1988. Getting married is like a box of chocolates, you don't know what your going to get until you bite.
I have one daughter who is 36 who lives in San Mato, Ca. A step son that is 40 who lives in Elk Grove, Ca. and a step daughter who is 30 who lives in Cottonwood, Az. I have 5 grand childeren, all great kids.
