Bonnie's Story

Hi ESHS friends, I look foreward to remeeting many of you at the reunion next year. Meanwhile, I thought I would reach out to you, in the hopes I could connect with those of you who might share some of my interests. I have three loving daughters(Anna, Mila and Elena) and four wonderful grandchildren. Fortunately, they all live within and hour and a half of me. I also have a 17 year old stepson who will be living with us this school year. He is a treat. After college and becoming a Montessori Teacher, I did the back-to- the-land thing first near Point Arena, CA and then here in Northern New Mexico beside the Rio Grande. While my children were young I set up a couple of alternative community cooperative schools in New Mexico. I also home schooled my children part of the time. nd spending time in Mexico. In the early 70s I met some indigenous Huichol families and became a fan of their culture and art. With the help of my Huichol friends I have been able to publish two books of their myths retold for children. The first is WATAKAME'S JOURNEY and the other is WHEN ANIMALS WERE PEOPLE. I continue to be associated with one extended family group and last November I was able to raise money through benefits I organized to go to their village with an environmental engineer. We helped them get clean running water to their living area. This experience was a great joy to me. I love these dear people. I live in Santa Fe with my husband, Ed Larson. He has a gallery on Canyon Road where he paints, and makes wood contruction sculpture. He is also known for his designs of Story Quilts. Stop by if you are in town.
