Bonnie's Story

Workplace I have always held down several jobs at one time. Practice for parenting skills.(lol) I have been a city employee for Dearborn several years after high school which funded my passion to work as an RMA. I was working for a private investigator which sparked my compassion for foster care in 89 but at that time I wasn't willing to work with the parents, most prison gaurds lack empathy and mine was a slacker. More training, schooling and working at Ford's as a secretary for many years enabled me to be more mature about things I was sheltered from as a kid. Since being a foster parent, 1999 til now, I have fallen in love with one child I would like to adopt when he is released, until then I'm the ol'lady in the shoe. Most of my kids I try to teach sign language to so they can communicate alittle when their social skills are neglected. My daughter plays the piano, when she's not looking momma teaches the others the basics and when she comes home it boosts her self esteeme since she's the only piano player only she can be the role model for music...Expand for more
classes;) I have been mistaken for a Tim Horton's commercial of a woman flying across the counter to fetch a coffee pot...with much negotiation and charm that commercial is gone....... In between foster placements, Tim Horton's coffee shop was where you could find me during school hours. That fame was not as rewarding as working on diversity with my son in 92 for the Malcom X academy, or surrogate parenting for those who could have none. After all these years of learning I got a pair of emerald shoes and prayed to be home, prayers do get answered, and I have been retired for 8 years thanks abundantly by my deceased husband, I am a career mom and would never go back to the private sector work force, as long as I have runny noses, breathing machines, lotsa doctors appoinments and basketball games I have too much commpassion and empathy now to return into a drill sargent again. 2002 produced the most death in history all around and I am a survivor of that years losses, be kind to a widow you meet you never know her story and stories are what makes history.
