Bonnie Westfall:

CLASS OF 1970
Springville, NY

Bonnie's Story

Hi, everyone. I worked many years at what I call dead end jobs. I felt there was no future in them. I was a single parent raising two children and I usually had to work two jobs to make ends meet. Who am I kidding? The ends never meet! After my daughter was in her second year of college, my sister talked me into moving to Florida. Yea, no snow. I started to drive a school bus and I definitely knew I wanted to do something else. I went to the local community college to see what they had to offer and left enrolled. I honestly don't know how they did it, but here I was the oldest one in my class. For the next four years I drove a school bus while taking full time college classes. I never got to watch tv or go anywhere because I had homework to do. I earned my Associate's then my Bachelor's degree. I figured I was on a roll so while I taught school I went on to get my Master's. I guess I am a gluton for punishment. My only regret is that I did not do it sooner. I now teach in a middle school. (I know the worst age ever) My students know it all(until it comes to a test). I don't remember being that way when I was in school, but then again I was a good kid. I am actually a special education teacher and have tau...Expand for more
ght science, reading and now math. Recently, I was inquiring about getting my Doctor's degree. Whoa, now I know I am crazy. Because of my age they were not too keen and as I owe the federal an arm and a leg in student loans I am thinking about bowing out. Really, I just wanted to see how it felt to have you all call me doctor. ;-) I have a son and a daughter who live in New York. Jason lives in Alfred and has 3 boys and 1 girl and Janelle who lives in Rochester has has 1 daughter and 1 son. They are all five and under so they keep grandma busy. I spend my summers in New York with the kids and teach from August to June. I am so glad to find out the reunion will be in July this year because I could never make it in August. We have land in Franklinville, NY and plan to retire and be snow birds. We will spend our summers up there and come back down here for the winters. You can all have the snow. I do get to see it as I also spend the two week winter break in New York with the kids also. I am currently married to a guy I knew up in New York for most of my life and have two pomeranians that make me wait on them hand and foot. It has been great sharing my story and I can't wait to see everyone this summer.
