Bonnie's Story
Hi!
I was married on March 24, 2007 to "Mr Right!." Wayne and I live in Salem, NH.
I have been an activist for the last few years. I used to hate that word, but ... if the shoe fits ...
Five years ago I founded, and continue to run, NH Right to Know GMO -- a grassroots organization working on education and legislation of genetic engineered foods. In the process, I've learned how our government works. A bit eye opening!
I have succumbed to the pressure of a number of NH legislators, as well as a bunch of activists, and threw my hat into the ring. In November 2016 I ran to become a NH State Rep. Unfortunately, I lost, but I'll try again. It's a tough district, but since high school, I've become a bit tougher, myself! :)
I was appointed as an alternate to our Zoning Board of Adjustment in 2014, and was elected by town residents to that Board in 2016. In 2017, my fellow Board members elected me as their Vice Chair.
I was recently (spring 2017) elected to the Executive Committee of the Rockingham County Democrats. I also am on the Board of Directors of the Salem NH Farmers Market, serving as the volunteer coordinator.
I have two children. I am fortunate that my husband, and our home, made it possible for my daughter, Kristen, and her family, to come live with us in June 2012. Kristen and Chris made me a grandmother ...Expand for more
in 2007. I loved having my granddaughter so close, and miss them since they moved out in November 2015. Happily, they stayed in Salem, and live less than 2 miles away!
My son, PJ, is in southern MA. I don't see him anywhere near enough.
Wayne's daughter, Tammy, has a wonderful husband, and three very special children. We had one granddaughter when we got married. Their son was born 2 weeks early, and 2.5 weeks after our wedding! (Not every couple gets to plan their wedding date around the birth of not one -- but two! -- grandbabies!!!) And they added a new baby girl in early 2009, so Tammy and her family are very busy! We don't see them as often as we would like, but each visit is precious.
I lost my Mom in 2000, and Dad in 2015. My sister, Ginny Smith (now Wright -- no known connection to Wayne!), DHS 74, has the "right" husband, and 2 wonderful girls. She works as a Nurse Practioner in Concord, NH. My baby sister, Darlene (now Flateau), DHS 76, is in upstate NY, and works for FedEX. She has a two children and two grandchildren.
I would love to hear from old classmates and childhood friends, especially Avis. I owe an apology to an old boyfriend, Doug M, if I can ever find him again.
I was disappointed that we didn't have had a class reunion for 2012. I'd be happy to work with a committee to plan the next one.
